THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
Although we haven’t had all the sponsorship money yet, we know that this year’s walk was a huge success. These things don’t just happen and, as a charity with no premises or regular source of income, Walk for Life has to call on the generosity of friends, neighbours and the wonderful people of this area to get things done at the lowest possible cost.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the following people and businesses.
Firstly, to Danny at the Town Hall for helping get permissions etc and Maria Luisa the police lady who was on duty all day and evening and always with a smile on her face. To Jack, Rod and Richard of Smooth FM for compering the day and helping it to run smoothly (no pun intended), to Christine from ACRAA for the dog show and the wonderful rosettes, to Cynthia for selling T shirts and to GM Photography for taking hundreds of pictures.
On the Walk to Cecilia of the farmacia for cutting the ribbon, to Steve Booth and his marshals John, Ian, George, Bill, Gary and Harry for keeping you all on the right track, Ali Mallet from Wellness Escapes for the Pilates demonstration and warm up, Claudia Balaz for the massages and Nicki Wakeman for being our First Aider. Also, to Sol Supermercado for providing water for the walkers.
To the stall holders Pat Stooks with her cards, Torolé Artisan Cervezas, Bodega Regino from Lorca with Dulseco wine and Jonathan and Paul, of The Dandy Lions Apothecary. To the wonderful Flamenco Dancers, Carrie’s Dusty Boots and Fusion International for entertaining us and to Lesley Darling for stepping in at the last minute as our Face Painter.
For the food: Maya of Sol Yoga for cooking the vegetable curry with no charge, Wendy and Mick for the Hog roast, Domingo at Bar La Cinta for the Paella and to La Colmena Bar for keeping us refreshed all day and evening.
In the evening: thank you for the music, Kayleigh Easton, Danny, Jordan n, George and RoadRunner. To Domingo of Carpas Pañales for the tables and chairs, Moovit for transport and storage, and Ian Gardner for transport. To all the people who donated raffle prizes to Jean Strong for the loan of cooking equipment and to Les, Jeff and Malcolm for helping all day.
To Luis at Unicaja for all his help collecting the sponsorship money (have you paid yours in yet?), Ibex Insurance ,our printers, Linea Grafica and Tshirt and medal suppliers Inversa for a really good service. To Dandy Lions and the charity shop across from The Town Hall for making a donation and giving us cloths and water to clean the tables.
Last but not least, to Paul the Pool and family and Richard of Calida Homes and his guests for staying behind and helping until all the tables and chairs were loaded, the dirty glasses were back at the bar and the rubbish was in the bins and of course to all those who walked and to The Walk for Life Committee who have worked tirelessly for months to and lost many night’s sleep to make this important day a success.
WE THANK YOU ALL
