Walk4Life: Walk report 2019
240 people registered to walk or run and collected their number and many more came to cheer them on and stayed on for the party afterwards. The conditions were perfect, not too hot and the forecast rain never happened. Cecilia Molina Verdú cut the tape on behalf of Spanish cancer charity AECC. There were two routes, 3 kilometre and 6 kilometre, the 3k runners were the first home. Everybody who took part received a medal.
The winners
First Child (under 16) was number 318, 12 year-old Alannah Innes Bedford who ran the 3k route
First Dog and Owner were number 322, Paul Day with Lily who walked the 3k route
First 3k walker to reach the finish line was number 282, Olivia Hair
First 6k runner back was number 119, Eric Wintersgill
First 6k walker was number 73, Christine Fawcett
Oldest walker, number 308, was 85 year-old Sheila Coles who walked the 3k route
First Fancy-Dress Child was number 40, Daisy Waterman on the 6k route and dressed as a pirate.
First Fancy-dress adults were a pair of bonny scots lassies, numbers 3 and 4, Helen Simpson and Carrie Ann Earl who also walked 6k in their kilts.
Before the race finished Walk for Life had already received €2511.62 and it is still coming in. Do not give donations elsewhere as you must have a receipt.
Thank you to everyone who took part but especially to Les and Sue for the bottle stall which made €300 and the dog show run by Christine Axelsen, there will be a detailed write up and photos, which made €310.
